"Vanishing”

Featuring barns in Waterloo-Wilmot regions, full of character, history, charm, relevance, not only to their owners but to the community around them and beyond. Are these barns symbols of a vanishing lifestyle in Ontario? Why do I not pay attention to them and take them for granted? In the late winter months and early spring my wife and I found it healing to take short drives in the countryside, close to home. I captured many of these scenes focusing on the barns in our community. I chose one of them to pay tribute to my late mother Angela (see previous blog post).

In contrast, I also captured several close up images of the dance of raindrops on beautiful small blooms on a dogwood tree at Edenwilde, our home in Kitchener. Early, bright yellow flowers that light up the garden responding to the warmth of sunshine and refreshing spring rain. These are dramatic monochromatic images that may intrigue the viewer and remind us of the relevance of simple essentials of our lives that we often take for granted.
